Please help Leela's Place Foundation run their home for one hundred and twenty dogs who have nowhere else to go and no one else to go to.

Leela's Place Foundation is a registered NGO and is 80G certified.

At Leela's Place, we love and care for old or ill pets who are abandoned because they are just that - old or ill. We also rescue pets who have been badly abused by their owners. Many breeders are unethical and extremely exploitative of the dogs they breed. Their only aim is to get the dogs to produce as many puppies as possible. They discard dogs when breeding them is no longer possible. Perhaps because these dogs are too old to breed, or have health issues, these breeders find it not worth their money to treat them. Never mind how vulnerable their condition is, these poor dogs are left on the roads or in shelters. They are left for dead.

They can no longer fight the young territorial dogs to scavenge for food or to find shelter from the weather. They can no longer run away from the threatening cruelty they face from some humans or avoid being run over by vehicles driven by reckless drivers. They all fight a losing battle for their lives.

We have a home with lawns and plants, and yards paved with Kota stone. We have no cages, grills, or chains. Our staff to dog ratio is 1:10. We try our best to give all the dogs who live with us the lifestyle of a beloved pet. And we try and improve upon what we have constantly. There is never any complacency.

With us, they revel in loving human care and the benign companionship of other dogs. I truly believe that much of the secret to the longevity of our dogs - we have several Labradors and Spitz who are fifteen or sixteen years old, and many Indies well over that - is the stimulation they get from the company of other dogs. 

Every visitor coming to Leela's Place is greeted with smiling faces and invitations to play. No one goes back feeling sorry for any of our dogs. That's how joyful and healthy they all are.
