These Newborn Twins Are Fighting Bravely For Their Lives, You Can Help Them Survive

It’s been two weeks since Pratiksha and Sachin’s twins were born and yet the parents haven’t been able to hold them in their arms. The babies, one boy, and one girl are struggling for their lives in the NICU. Born preterm, these babies are too weak to fight on their own - they need medical support for at least another month but their parents are in no condition to afford the treatment. A sudden emergency in Pratiksha’s pregnancy forced her husband to rush her to the nearest hospital. Her blood pressure was very high and both the mother and the babies’ lives were at risk. 

“But finally, when my angels were born, I heaved a sigh of relief. I thought this was going to be the end of the nightmare. But I was so wrong! While my wife is at home, crying for her babies, I am here at the hospital every day waiting for some good news…” - Sachin Apte, father.  

A resident of Dombivli, Maharashtra, Sachin is a medical representative and currently is the sole earning member of the family. Pratiksha used to work as a teacher but she left her job as soon as she got pregnant - her pregnancy was difficult and the couple didn’t want to take any risks. But life had other plans for them. 

“She keeps asking me when she will be able to hold her babies in her arms and I try my best to console her. What else can I even do? The doctors are saying that the babies are underweight and are suffering from infections, they need intensive care, and yet all that I had borrowed from relatives and friends is soon to be over.”
