Born After A 13-Year-Long Wait, This Preterm Baby Girl Needs Your Support To Survive

Manikyam can’t hold back her tears as she looks at the glass door that separates her from her baby girl. Born preterm at only 28 weeks, Manikyam’s daughter is just 680 grams. She is too weak and needs to stay in the NICU for 2 more months. That’s the only way she can be healthy and live happily, but as luck would have it, Manikyam and her husband have no means to afford this treatment.

“She was born to us after 13 years and now we don’t know if she will live…,” - Manikyam’s voice trails off.  

She hasn’t held her baby in her arms yet, this desperate mother needs your support  

"But our little angel came into this world way too early. The doctors told me that she didn’t cry out when she was born and was immediately shifted to the NICU. She has been there ever since. I haven't held her once, neither have I fed her. I want to protect her with all that I have, but it looks like I am failing."  

The parents watch their tiny daughter from a distance, connected to tubes and monitors. She is being fed milk through a tube. Day and night, these helpless parents fervently pray for the day they can bring their precious baby back home.

She is our miracle, but her tiny body needs more care than we can provide  

Manikyam and Trimurthy hail from a small village near Vijayawada. As a daily wager, Trimurthy earns only 500 rupees a day. This is barely enough to cover their basic needs, let alone the enormous medical expenses for their daughter’s treatment.
