Farmer In Maharashtra Fears He Will Lose His 10 YO Without An Urgent Bone Marrow Transplant
Feel free to ask Campaigner for a new update on this Fundraiser.
Project
Nisha is 10 years old now and it has been over 7 years since she has been fighting a dangerous disease that doesn’t allow her to live like any other child her age. The poor girl doesn’t have the energy to go to school regularly. She can’t have that orange ice cream on her way back home from school. She can't play with her friends in the evenings. On some days, she feels so tired and weak that she can’t even sit up on her bed.
Nisha has Thalassemia Major. It is an inherited blood disorder that causes one’s body to have less hemoglobin. She needs an urgent bone marrow transplant - that is the only way she can get better.
She says she doesn’t feel the needles anymore - it’s sad how she has accepted her fate
Nisha’s parents Sunil and Ujjwala feel helpless. Sunil is a cotton farmer in the Jalgaon district of Maharashtra. But the erratic rains in this region have led him to incur heavy losses in the last year.
“But I can’t stop taking care of my daughter, can I? She is only 10 and has her whole life ahead of her. The little one doesn’t even understand what she is suffering from and says she no longer feels pain when we take her for her monthly blood transfusions! But how long can she continue like this?” - Sunil Patil, father.
The monthly blood transfusions are the only thing that is keeping Nisha alive till now. Every time there is a little delay, Nisha gets pale and weak, she even stops eating. So, Sunil does everything in his power to continue the transfusions.
But now, doctors in Nashik have told Sunil and Ujjwala that she needs a bone marrow transplant as soon as possible. Her younger brother, Mohit, is luckily a fully-matched donor and he can save his sister’s life. But the procedure will cost them 10 lakhs.
“I am worried for both my children. I can’t afford to lose either of them! There are days when my husband and I go hungry, and feed only rice and dal to the kids. How will we ever afford the procedure?” - Ujjwala, mother.
You can bring back their happiness
Sunil has borrowed from his friends and family and has also got some support from the state government’s schemes for Thalassemia patients. But none of it has been enough - he has spent over 7 lakhs and now he needs another 10 lakhs for Nisha’s life-saving procedure. You can help this father save his 10 YO’s life by donating from the comfort of your home. A single donation will go a long way in helping little Nisha
