Help This Poor Farmer’s Newborn Baby Survive A Dangerous Condition

Project
Vikas is pacing up and down the hospital corridor, anxiously looking at the clock outside the NICU. He is waiting for 12 pm, the only time he can visit his baby. The worry and stress on Vikas' face are evident to anyone who sees him, but even a glimpse of his baby boy is enough to put this poor father at ease, even if it's only for a few seconds. But the sight of tubes on his baby boy and the constant beeping of the machine is a reminder that he is still fighting for his life.
"Our baby is slowly recovering, but he is all alone in there. I wish we could be with him," Vikas Madane says before hurrying to see his wife, who is also recovering. Dhanashree only asks Vikas one thing daily - "How's our baby? Can we take him home now?"
And Vikas has no answer. Drowning in debt, he has no means to continue their only child’s life-saving treatment.
With His Baby And Wife In Critical Condition, He Was Extremely Helpless
Dhanashree and Vikas were extremely excited about the arrival of their baby. They had made several plans for their future and were eagerly waiting to welcome their little one. However, their hopes were shattered a month ago when something unfortunate happened.
Their baby boy was born in the seventh month of pregnancy, extremely premature and underweight. But that was only the beginning of the little ones' struggles. Vikas and Dhanashree’s baby has Omphalocele dysmorphism, a condition where premature infants are born with a congenital defect where the abdominal organs protrude through an opening in the abdominal wall. Premature infants with omphalocele dysmorphism may experience developmental delays, intellectual disabilities, seizures, muscle weakness, and eye abnormalities.
“I had never heard about this condition before, I was so shocked! And all I could think about was saving our baby. But just after delivery, Dhanashree also suffered from severe liver issues and was admitted to the ICU. With both my wife and baby in critical condition, I had no one to look to for help.”
Vikas, however, did the best he could. He called up his friends and family and somehow managed to borrow a little money for his baby’s procedure - the only way to save him from this condition. Their baby underwent procedure on 4th March and continues to be closely monitored in the NICU. The only way they can take him home healthy is if they’re able to complete his treatment. Without critical care, their baby won’t make it.
Debt & Poverty Stands In The Way Of His Baby’s Life-Saving Treatment
Vikas is a farmer from Sambhaji Nagar, Aurangabad, Maharashtra. He works on other people’s farms and earns a meager amount. Along with his baby’s treatment, he’s also worried about the immense amount of debt he’s in after borrowing money from relatives.
Ask him how they manage their meals these days and he says “My wife and I share one dabba of food every day, that’s all I can afford right now. It doesn’t matter if I eat, but I want my baby and wife to be healthy again. I want us all to go home and start our family like we had dreamed before.”
Vikas, a poor farmer, needs your support to save his only child’s life. His baby boy needs to stay in the NICU for one month to completely recover. Vikas has exhausted all his funds and has no one else to turn to. Your support can make a difference.
