Help Rajheev Rescue And Rehabilitate Women With Physical And Mental Illnesses

Feel free to ask Campaigner for a new update on this Fundraiser.

    Project

Growing up in one room shared by six people, where every rupee was spent with a lot of caution, Rajheev Agrawal knows what it means to struggle. His family had to ration everything they got. “We were barely making it by,” he says.

However, Rajheev was able to build a good life for himself - he’s a law graduate and a Chartered Accountant. While he has achieved plenty in life, he has not forgotten where he came from - his heart still aches for those who had nothing. Rajheev then decided to stop working for money and & dedicated his life along with his wife Meenakshi for the marginalized people of our country.

“Majha Ghar Foundation was started over a year & half ago to give Home, Hope, Health & Happiness to the most Helpless. My wife, Minakashi, and I would cry looking at the plight of the people on the streets. I will never forget the time we used to struggle to even afford one tablet. I didn't want anyone else to go through that now that I was in a position to help them.”

From 18 To 100, Adult Women Of All Ages Have Found A Safe Home Because Of Rajheev

“Let me tell you a story close to my heart,” Rajheev Agrawal says when asked about how Majha Ghar Foundation has impacted the lives of women.

“An old woman was left by her son and daughter-in-law at the Pune railway station. They promised that they would return in 10 minutes, but six days later, she was still sitting there - trembling and scared. She was so weak that she couldn’t even pick up the food left for her. When the police told us about her, we immediately brought her to the ashram. Soon, with the help of our doctors, she was well enough to stand and walk on her own. She then asked my wife to call her son. When they came to visit her, they said they couldn’t take her back home with them. That’s when we promised to look after her forever.”

Today this old woman lives in peace and comfort at Majha Ghar Foundation’s ashram - away from the cruelty that she faced in her own house. Majha Ghar Foundation also takes in younger women who are physically, mentally ill & living a very painful life on the streets & railway stations. Whether they’re 18 or 100, they take care of women of all ages. With the help of 24 staff members & 7 doctors, they have been able to rescue 438 people and rehabilitated around 123 of them until now, many of whom were found on the streets injured, sick, abused, and abandoned without food, water or shelter.

“We have over 82 women living with us now. We find out about them through the police, government hospitals or social workers. We also have a rescue team that does rounds in an ambulance to see if anyone needs help.”

Rajheev Has Dedicated His Life & Savings To Look After These Women, He Now Needs Your Support

Rajheev has used all his life’s savings to build this safe and comfortable home for women in need. He continues to ensure they get healthy meals, clothes, medicines and anything else they require. However, the monthly expenditures are a lot to manage without help. While friends and relatives have supported him, it’s not enough if they want to rescue and take in more women.

“We once rescued a young woman who was found with wounds on her head and a haemoglobin of three. The doctors said she wouldn’t survive, but we got her treated in a private hospital and today she’s not just surviving, but thriving. It’s stories like this that motivate me to continue doing what I’m doing. I want to be able to help many more women.”

Rajheev needs your help to get groceries, hygiene products and medicines. All the women they rescue have been through a lot of pain and are often left with nothing to fend for themselves. These products will ensure they’re well looked after. You can donate and give them a second chance at life.
