Help with notebooks and football shoes at Mrida

If you ask a 19 year old youth from Kumharra village in Mohgaon to answer  9x7, he will think for 5 minutes and come up with the wrong answer. This same youth has loads of stamina to run fast, provided he is given the right training and food.

A conversation that we had with the top most administrative official in Mandla district left her shocked after we told her how much we spend per child in our school. She said that the Government does not want to spend so much. The questions for us were:
If not the Government, then who?
If not here, then where?
And if not now, then when?

And that is the raison d'etre for our work and this campaign. To empower Gondi and Baiga children and youth to build on their natural talents and at the same time, have access to opportunities that are denied to them because of poor elementary education.
The Riverside Natural School needs notebooks and textbooks for some of the poorest of poor children who are also the first-generation learners in their families. This year, 58 of 150 of our children will pay nothing for high quality  education. And indeed, that is how it should be for a region and a people that  have been denied opportunity and access for so long.

The Riverside Leagues is our football and long distance running program for tribal youth and adolescents. 200 boys and girls are up at the crack of dawn to practice on playgrounds that reek of neglect. Many have been selected  to play for the district but a lot more than just hard work goes into making players. We need football boots and footballs to keep them practicing. A pair of football boots is often the only encouragement needed for these children to keep playing.
