Project
Even though the lockdown has been lifted, life has not yet bounced back to normal. People and organisations are going about their day, however, with a ton of restrictions.
That’s why we want to extend our support and help as many furry friends that are out in the streets.
In case you do go out and feed the strays in your vicinity, make sure to keep the following tips in mind:
Feed them what's right
Human food that is heavy on oil and spice is a big no-no. Chocolates, onion, garlic, grapes, raisins, any dough made with yeast, sugary items, candies etc. are all potentially toxic to dogs.
Don’t throw food at them
It’s important to learn how to feed them. Make sure to lay food on the ground and avoid throwing food at them or towards them from a distance, from a vehicle or from your balcony.
Give them fresh water
Provide them with fresh water as it keeps them hydrated and promotes kidney and urinary tract health. Also, make sure to double up on it in the summer.
In case you are unable to go out and feed the strays, then you can help us with our initiative. This is your chance to help hungry strays from the safety and comfort of your home. Every single donation will make a difference, So, don’t miss the chance to contribute to wagging tails!
With Diwali soon approaching, stray dogs will face yet another set of challenges. This can be a very stressful time for them with firecrackers proving to be the main cause for concern. The loud sounds startle and frighten them, the flickering lights cause anxiety and the smoke can make it difficult for them to see clearly and if inhaled, it can even cause damage to their lungs. During this time, stray dogs are even prone to burns and accidental injuries.
There are two ways to help strays during the festive season. Firstly, we should celebrate Diwali responsibly by choosing not to burst firecrackers or do so in a limited capacity. If unavoidable, we should make sure to do it in a designated area, away from where strays wander or sleep. Secondly, we should make an extra effort to comfort them when firecrackers are being lit, and the best way to soothe them is with food and water.
Strays are already fending for themselves, therefore, during stressful times, it is only fair that we make a conscious effort to help them. In the spirit of Diwali, you can be the one to light up the darkness and make sure they are protected, cared for and well fed.
Together, we make this world a happier place for strays!
