I AM SAKSHAM- Limiting Limitations

Established in 2003, with the sole purpose of empowering persons with visually challengedness, Saksham has always believed in limiting limitations through providing assistive devices and training to use those devices and has made many of visually impaired "Saksham", The organization is also working to make cinema accessible for persons with visual and hearing impairment. An online library which provides access to books to persons with print disabilities is one of the huge success of the organization. Saksham also has its school for Children with visually challengedness and multiple disabilities with the vision to provide special training, additional attention and specialized education they need.

The organization has always focused on Empowering communities by creating multiple opportunities and providing platforms for the Visually Impaired for sustainable social upliftment, thus enabling them to emerge as significant contributors to Indian's growth story.

India currently has around 12 million visually challenged people against 39 million globally -- which makes India home to one-third of the world’s visually challenged population. Out of this only, 50% of the population are able to enter the education system, and a majority of them drop out due to lack of educational resources. Lack of awareness and resources are the major reason that opting education gets difficult for the visually challenged population as a majority of them come from marginalized sections of the society. Saksham believes in limiting limitations and is making all the efforts to make the visually impaired persons 'Saksham' (abled). We believe that education is the basic and the most important step towards being empowered.

This campaign aims to procure some basic resources which are essential for the education of the visually impaired persons.

Dear donors, we seek your valuable support to help us reach these million visually impaired persons who are living in the darkness of ignorance and despair with a smile and a ray of hope. We want to equip them with the right tools and technology so that they are able to gain education and become a part of mainstream society. We aim to empower them so that they become independent and are able to self-sustain their livelihood. Our Ultimate goal is to convert visually impaired persons pan India from tax consumers to taxpayers and contribute to the growth of the society and nation as a whole.
