Help Feed Gau Mata Rescued From Slaughter Houses

Ever wonder what happens to the cows in dairy farms and cow sheds once they’re old and stop giving milk? Most of the times they end up in illegal slaughterhouses and butchers’ shops where they are killed and turned into meat. This is an atrocity committed against these docile animals, once they stop being useful for the benefit of people. Dharam Raj Ranka Jain, a jeweller from Hyderabad took it upon himself to save these cows from this bleak scenario.

He built the biggest cow shelter in Southern India, called Satyam Dietym Sundaram Gau Niwas in Hyderabad, where old cows are cared for after being rescued. This shelter is home to over 5000 cows, and give these animals a second chance at life. Not just that, here they are not milked for commercial purposes. In this shelter they enjoy a calm life, with food and ample caregiving by over 100 staff members. They also have 2 resident veterinarians to look into the medical concerns of these animals.

Dharam has been actively rescuing and rehabilitating cows since 1991. What started as a rescue mission for about 200 cows, is now a fully operational cow shelter at Gaganpahad with over 5000 cows, an almost unbelievable feat!

Running the biggest cow shelter in Southern India requires huge amounts of resources, to ensure they are taken care of. It is extremely difficult to single-handedly provide for thousands of cows. Help Dharam Raj by donating fodder to the shelter to make sure that the cows there are well fed, and be a part of the noble act of helping cows.
