When you think of food in Mumbai, the first thing that comes to mind is a vada pav. So many people rely on this humble snack to get through their day. Vada Pav is what unites the rich and the poor.
While the iconic Vada Pav might be a snack to some, a delicacy to others, for the poor and the ordinary, it is a wholesome meal. Thousands of labourers have a dedicated Vada Pav stall for their hunger. Consisting of potatoes, chickpea flour and bread the vada pav is a carbohydrate-rich snack that is both nourishing and tasty.
Amidst this lockdown, everything is shut down. With a pandemic out on the loose eating up everyone in its path, a nationwide lockdown felt like the only solution.
With a nationwide lockdown issued across the country on 24th March, policemen, sanitation workers, and municipality workers are risking their lives outside still working amidst this pandemic-struck environment. These workers are out on the front lines guarding the city and ensuring that we’re all safe. They stand guards on our roads in the hot scorching sun. They go long hours without eating. Goli vada pav is ensuring that our heroes are provided with vada pavs as a token of gratitude.
In addition to this, Goli vada pav is also feeding thousands of daily wage labourers who are left with no source of income during this lockdown. They started Feed the Hungry campaign from the 10th of April and have been feeding the poor through generous contributions. They have served 25,000+ Vadapavs till 21st April. To reach out to more people, they need your support.
If you’ve ever been hungry, you know how horrible that feeling is. It affects your mind and body in ways unimaginable. This feeling is even worse when you’re unable to feed your children. These are all hard-working people who have built our homes, offices and schools. They are the ones who give us our chai or take our orders at a hotel. We need to support them now. Goli Vada Pav is with you to support you in your efforts. With your contributions of Rs. 20, they’ll be able to feed many people in need.
