Support Dev To Save Slum Children In Noida From Freezing & Starving This Winter

Dev was just 11 when he ran away from his home to escape his father’s abuse and neglect. He lived on the railway station for days and lived off whatever he could find. Although he was born into a poor family of rag pickers, he was determined to fight for a better life. After years of struggling, fighting depression after his mother’s untimely death, and overcoming several hurdles, Dev landed a job as a salesperson. 

“Even though I started earning enough to live a comfortable life, my heart wasn’t happy. I knew I wanted to do more with my life, for other people. Then when I saw a little kid looking for something to eat from a trash bin, it broke my heart into a million pieces. It was then that I realized that I wanted to do something for them. I grew up in the slum too, and so did Chandni. We’ve both lost a parent and had to struggle our way through life. Today, we’re in a position to help children and we will do everything we can. ” - Dev Pratap, co-founder, Voice Of Slum

Dev and Chandni Khan started Voice of Slum in 2016 and there’s been no looking back ever since. 

Thousands Of Children Have Found Hope Again

Voice of Slum is a non-profit, youth-driven organization that is working relentlessly to transform the lives of slum kids of Noida. They take care of their education from the pre-primary level until they graduate, and also work hard to give them good opportunities so that they can break the shackles of poverty and become self-reliant. They have made a remarkable impact on the lives of thousands of children living in Noida’s slums. So far, they have changed the lives of 15,000 children.  

Voice of Slum also started a community kitchen where children from the slums of Noida can come and enjoy a hearty, healthy meal. Their efforts during the pandemic have been tremendous. Last year, they distributed around 18 lakhs cooked meals to migrant labourers and daily wagers. During the second wave too, they fed thousands of people in the slums.

“Now we want to continue giving slum children a better life. Winter is here, and many of them don’t even have the most basic things they need. We want to do our best to keep them warm, protected, and healthy during this time. And for that, we need your help.” 

How You Can HelpVoice of Slum was started with a strong desire to uplift children from the slums, and over the years, Dev and Chandni continued to do that and so much more. Today, Dev needs your support to get blankets, winter clothes and groceries to help save these children from the cold.  

“The temperatures fall considerably low during the winters in Noida. This means so many of these children will be left freezing in the cold. The blankets and winter clothes will keep them warm during some of the worst days and the groceries will ensure they get fresh, hot and nutritious meals.
