Celebrate Eid by donating a last Iftar meal to poor children

The month of Ramzan is considered an auspicious time by Muslims when they find their reason to believe in goodness and celebrate piousness, with renewed energy. Muslims from around the world, fast all day long and celebrate their evening meal or iftar with their family and loved ones.

The holy month of Ramzan is all about cleansing oneself and starting afresh.

BUT, NOT EVERYONE IS FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO CELEBRATE THE REAL ESSENCE OF RAMADAN.

11-year-old Sohail lives in a remote slum area along with his parents. While his mother works as a maid, Sohail accompanies his father every day. Both of them go to sell balloons to the school kids outside a school compound. The family already finds it hard enough to make ends meet, but they never complain.

After a long and tiring day, when the family comes together to celebrate their meal, it is heartbreaking to see them break their fast only by drinking water.

And this is not the story of just one family. Sohail lives in a Muslim community with more 300 children, mostly orphans and none of them have any means to buy nutritious food that would support their day-long fast for an entire month.

AFTER ALL, IFTAR IS A MEAL TO CELEBRATE TOGETHERNESS.

It’s about sharing a meal and breaking the fast together. It is about celebrating our differences and caring for all those around us.

A lot of people choose Ramadan as the month in which they pay their zakat for good reasons. This Ramadan, let’s make a difference.
